The name Gidget comes from a movie where Sandra Dee plays a short tomboy who hung out with the guys. Girl + Midget = Gidget. That’s me, the Asian edition.
I am a Midwest girl married to a Southern boy. I like to cook and eat, he’s a bigger fan of the eating part.
This blog was started so my family and friends could keep up with our newlywed life, and food became a naturally reoccurring subject. As an outsider transplanted to Jackson, Mississippi I’ve enjoyed discovering the city through the food it has to offer and document my stories here. Eating well is a high priority in the South.
I believe it’s important to sit down, enjoy meals with people and not answer the phone during dinner. Cooking is my therapy and seeing others enjoy something I’ve made is very satisfying.
I try my best to eat fresh, locally, and as purely as possible. I like to know where my food comes from and what exactly is in it. Then again a Moon Pie, Cheez-Its, or a dipped cone from Dairy Queen never hurt anyone.
My husband and I like to travel, play sports and steal bits off each other’s plates. To balance out my passion for food I can often be found running outside, on the tennis court or in a yoga class. Currently I’m planning on running the 2011 Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras half marathon in New Orleans. Done and done!
If you have any questions, comments or want to know a good place to eat, contact me.

Erin – I work for Bill and he emailed me the link to your blog because he know how much I love Disney too! He may regret it because I may spend more time checking your blog that working for him! Ha! You are awesome! Keep up the great work!
Posted by Christy Anderson | January 28, 2011, 11:19 amIf he gave you the link it’s fair game to read during the day! I gathered enough material from Disney to write about seven posts in all. My food list obsession might have made them crazy and I can’t wait to go back. Thank you for reading!
Posted by Gidget Eats | January 28, 2011, 2:13 pmPack your bags, Girl. We are going the week of Thanksgiving! If you want to do Disney right, you need to go with us! No time for naps in the middle of the day!
Posted by Christy Anderson | January 28, 2011, 3:07 pmHa! Can I fit in one of your suitcases? We anticipated some people’s needs for naps, but surprisingly they pushed through.
Posted by Gidget Eats | February 1, 2011, 10:22 amI am so proud of you and what you are doing. I love reading your blogs. They bring me joy and a smile to my face. Sometimes, even a little tear:) You know your momma. Love you girl…
Posted by Momma | December 22, 2010, 7:28 pmGidget, I really enjoyed the review of Sweet CeCe’s especially since I am the owner. I hope you and your friends will continue to grace us with your presence as we get ready to open one in Madison. I do want to clarify one thing in your review- we like to get your samples, because our machines are very powerful and at times the yogurt comes out quickly. We want you to eat your yogurt, not wear it. Feel free to always ask for samples- in the near future, we have pumpkin, pecan praline, and peppermint coming. We are also working on an apple pie for the winter.
Posted by Drew Pickett | October 23, 2010, 11:11 amThank you for reading and I appreciate your comments, especially the explanation of your flavor sampling process. I need all the help I can get to not wear my food.
It’s great news to hear you will be expanding and I will look forward to more Sweet Cece’s fro-yo!
Posted by gidgete27 | October 23, 2010, 11:46 amI’m enjoying your blog, Erin. But you failed to mention in the muscadine jelly section that you actually MADE some last year about your birthday time.

I am proud of you! I enjoyed reading your article. Yes, you are a mid west girl but you have transplanted so well. We lived in Ocean Springs for more than five years and loved every day of it. The food was always great especailly if you frequented the less traveled dining spots.
Have a great day. I will enjoy reviewing more of your work.
