I’m feeling thankful for every day life, and in that spirit, here are a few frivolous things bringing me happiness.
1. Barbara’s Bakery Puffs cereal
I’ve found a new favorite cereal which tastes so good I forget it’s healthy, and it has a puffin on the box. Currently there is a $1 off coupon available on the Barbara’s Bakery website, so I plan on stocking up. You’ll like the cereal and the puffin.
2. New Crate and Barrel table linens
We celebrated our second year anniversary last week. Following traditional gift guidelines, my mom sent us bold, beautiful cotton place mats and napkins. It doesn’t take much to brighten up a kitchen.
3. HTC EVO
Awhile back I upgraded to a smart phone (awesome) but the battery wouldn’t last for four hours (not awesome). However, buying an extended battery has fixed the problem and gives my HTC EVO life for about 24 hours.
4. Pineapple Chobani yogurt
There are unfortunate instances when I cannot bring myself to pay full price for Fage Greek yogurt and fresh pineapples are $5 a pop. Thank goodness for pineapple Chobani yogurt, especially when it’s on sale.
5. Gray pin strip J. Crew blazer
I’m chronically cold no matter the location, be it at the office, at home, in the grocery store. Imagine my excitement to score this J. Crew blazer at an outlet for $22, marked down like $100 from the original price.
6. My Bialetti 06990 Mukka Express Cappuccino Maker
Mornings are finally much cooler and there’s nothing better than a cappuccino to start the day. Well, that and not having to fork over $3 for a cup of coffee. I love the Mukka.
7. The sock bun hair method
As I previously confessed, I’m super lazy when it comes to my hair. So, my stylist advised me to search for the “sock bun method” on YouTube to achieve no-fuss curls. Click the link to view a video demonstrating the easiest way to style long hair with a single sock, maybe the best beauty secret ever.
8. Foodbuzz blog award nominees
Always on the look out for websites to read and blogs to follow, I was happy to check out the recent 2011 Foodbuzz award nominees. Now my RSS feeder and recipe folder are a little bigger.
9. St. Louis Cardinals baseball and the rally squirrel
Having fought hard for the wild card slot and nearly clinching the National League pennant, the St. Louis Cardinals have made for an exiting postseason in Major League Baseball. Oh, and one night a squirrel bounded across home plate at Busch Stadium, becoming an honorary mascot. I’d love to get my hands on a rally squirrel towel!
10. The Hunger Games trilogy
I keep telling my friends and family about The Hunger Games books, insisting they read them and how I finished the trilogy in five days. It’s laughable to describe the premise because it’s so morbid, but I promise, you won’t be able to put them down. If anyone can recommend another book to read nearly as good, I will be in your debt, payable by baked goods.
I like making lists. If you’re bored or curious, visit my List page…

LOVE a good outlet find! The Hunger Games trilogy got me through my first trimester insomnia. We’ll have to plan another movie night when it comes out next spring.
Posted by Megan James | October 17, 2011, 2:41 pmNothing beats NOT paying full price for clothes! I devoured the three Hunger Game books and was so sad to finish them, wishing there was more to come. Hopefully the movies do the books justice, we’ll be there!
