Eats and Reads for Snack Time

These are my current snack obsessions:

• Pepero, a Korean version of Pocky, both are sticks dunked in chocolate and adorably delicious. The challenging part is not eating the entire box in one sitting.
• Green tea, another Oriental Market find. I’m partial to green tea with fruit flavors like mango or peach, but couldn’t pass this box up.
• Lyons Wheatmeal Digestive Biscuits, what a terribly unappetizing name. However, the English do love some tea, so I figured their biscuits are worth a try. These are the perfect accompaniment for a cup of tea.
• The Light Cheesecake snuck into my basket. This is Ben’s doing.

News for the Locals

• The United States of Pizza: Mississippi: Serious Eats
  Our favorite local pizza haunt is Soulshine Pizza Factory, and I was amused to see that Old Venice Pizza in Oxford made the list (contrary to some other opinions.)
• Hot Dog Vendors Downtown (and Food Trucks)….: Jackson Now
  I await the day to see the Gringo Tacos and Tortas truck parked nearby to get my taco fix.

• Japanese Snacks: Pocky: Serious Eats
  After reading this article I needed to get some chocolate covered biscuit sticks as soon as possible. Although they aren’t Pocky, I did snag some Pepero at the Oriental Market next to Mr. Chen’s. The almond variety didn’t last long enough to be photographed.

  What’s the next best thing to having to get off your butt and walk to a vending machine for some junk food? Having the junk food come to you!

  I like coupons and saving money, but sometimes going to more than one store causes my brain to implode and I end up wandering the aisles in a frantic haze. From now on I stick with Target, Kroger and the occasional CVS run.
