Decisions, decisions.
August is my birthday month, which is precisely how long I celebrate. For a whole month.
In my dreams! That would be quite a commendable feat, but in reality I aim for a birthday week. Or more accurately, it’s about how long I can stretch out celebrating with family and friends before completely wearing them down.
During this time, I get to assist in the decision making process regarding birthday meals. In preparation for making wise restaurant choices, I just updated my running list of places eaten at and places to visit, in the Jackson Metro area. Not bad for a year’s worth of eating.

I would go back to Crazy Cat Bakers…one of my favorite lunch spots in Jackson….
A sign there says they have started serving dinner as well, but I have yet to try that.
Posted by Joshua | August 16, 2010, 7:43 pmNot too long ago I made my first visit to Crazy Cat Bakers with a friend for lunch. It’s a charming place and our food was great!
Posted by gidgete27 | August 17, 2010, 10:06 amThe Steam room Grill is closed. The borscht at Olga’s is divine.
Posted by KC | August 11, 2010, 7:06 amGood catch, I forgot Steam Room Grill closed. I am intrigued with Olga’s and will have to get there asap.
Posted by gidgete27 | August 11, 2010, 8:33 amLumpkins does have an AC issue but they are working on it. They have fans and if you can get in the way of one, it isn’t bad at all. They also are working on putting in a drive thru.
Posted by Montie Moore | August 10, 2010, 8:29 pmAh, thanks for clearing that up. I’m glad they are working to amend the AC situation in the summer heat, and that won’t keep me away.
Posted by gidgete27 | August 10, 2010, 9:35 pmDefinitely Olga’s.
Posted by Fat Harry | August 10, 2010, 4:07 pmAnd that makes endorsement number 5, Olga must be doing something right!
Posted by gidgete27 | August 10, 2010, 4:23 pmI do not see Lumpkins BBQ on your list. If you haven’t tried them yet, you should give the brisket a shot. I think it’s the best in the state and according to their facebook page, they do too.
Posted by Montie Moore | August 10, 2010, 1:49 pmThanks for the recommendation! I’ll add it to the list. Friends from work have eaten lunch there and said it’s good, but they have no air conditioning?
Posted by gidgete27 | August 10, 2010, 3:55 pmI highly recommend Olga’s & Ro Chez!
Posted by Lauren | August 10, 2010, 11:27 amThe Olga’s recommendation has been repeated several times recently, Russian food would be a whole new adventure! I was maybe thinking Ro’ Chez for our first anniversary.
