Earlier this week, the tennis team that I played on celebrated the end of the season by eating at Papito’s Mexican Grill. Located on the never ending street of Lakeland in Flowood, it sits on front of a strip mall in a long line of chain restaurants.
My meal was forgettable and un-note worthy, I didn’t even bother to take photos.
As a Mexican restaurant standard, chips and salsa were delivered to our table immediately. The salsa was fair, a little bland, and the chips ordinary at room temperature.
I ordered a chicken plate which included a burrito and enchilada. There was hardly any difference between the two items. The same chicken mixture was used in each; in the enchilada it was wrapped around a corn tortilla and topped with a red sauce, in the burrito it was wrapped with a flour tortilla and finished with guacamole and sour cream. It was what it was, and that’s the best thing I can say.
The service was a tad slow and our entrees were brought out at different time intervals, but we did have a table of nine people.
Maybe it’s worth another shot, maybe a different dish would stand out and be spectacular, but I’ll stick with Taqueria la Guatalupe any day.
